VOLUNTEERS OF ALL FAITHS CHANGING LIVES

Family Promise’s temporary housing program relies on a partnership of interfaith congregations and other volunteer groups to help local families facing homelessness. Our partners provide evening meals and hospitality to families in need. Our program is unique for housing instability solutions in that we provide services to every family member: adults receive resources for employment, housing, child care, vehicle repairs, and more while children receive transportation to school, child care, and other children experiencing the same feelings of displacement.  Our wholistic approach to ending homelessness involves intensive Case Management and community connections for continued sustainability into affordable housing.

HOST CONGREGATIONS

Local houses of worship provide community connections for lasting relationships for families shaken to their foundation.  A host congregation team of volunteers may be involved with the following:

 

  • Cooking and hosting dinner

  • Providing evening activity time with families, visiting, tutoring kids or playing games

​​​​

  • Coordinating children’s crafts & activities

​

  • Donating necessary supplies for the hosting week

​​​

MANAGEABLE COMMITMENT

​​​

  • Each congregation hosts families for just one week, four times a year

​

  • Guests consist of only two  families   (Maximum of 12 individuals)

​

  • Family Promise runs criminal background checks and drug screenings on all program participants

​​
